Dartmouth Career Network
23,000 Dartmouth alumni have volunteered to provide career advice to fellow alumni and students through the online Dartmouth Career Network. Networking within the Dartmouth community continues to be a valuable resource for alumni who are looking for their next career opportunities.
This past year the College launched the much more user-friendly new Dartmouth Career Network to help advisers more clearly indicate the help they would like to provide, and advisees to find just the right mentor. If you are not already, please become an active career adviser in the Dartmouth community: create or update your profile in the new Dartmouth Career Network. It's faster than finishing your morning coffee! And your privacy is assured. David Spaulding, in a recent message, assures us that only Dartmouth community members can access the network.
(continue reading for instructions on accessing the Dartmouth Career Network and creating or updating your profile)
INSTRUCTIONS TO UPDATE YOUR CAREER ADVISOR PROFILE
1) Go to Dartmouth's Vox Online Network (http://www.alumni.dartmouth.edu/von/dcn), and click the blue "Dartmouth Career Network" link.
2) You will be directed automatically to Dartmouth College's Web Authentication page, which will ask for your user name and password. Log in using your VON user name and password.*
An example of a user name would be:
John H. Doe 99
Please note that the professional schools have their own class year prefixes:
Tuck: Tu (John H. Doe Tu99)
Thayer: Th (John H. Doe Th99)
DMS: DMS (John H. Doe DMS99)
Arts & Sciences: Adv (John H. Doe Adv99)
Note: If you still have a "Dartmouth.Edu" email account, it is important that you use your VON username and password and not the one for your "Dartmouth.Edu" account.
4) You will be taken to the home page of the Dartmouth Career Network. Just scroll down a little bit and click on "Edit your profile anytime."
5) Once you've logged in successfully*, you will see a page listing all the information currently contained in your advisor profile. Here you can update specifics, such as your current occupation, your preferences for the type of advising you'd like to offer ("special interests"), and perhaps additional degrees you've received since you graduated from Dartmouth. Any information you provide will help potential advisees decide whether it makes sense for them to contact you. To update your data, look for the "Update" button in the upper right corner of the appropriate section.
6) If you wish to inactivate your advisor profile, you can do so by following the 5 steps above, and updating your "Current Profile Status" to "Inactive".
