Darfur Update at Rocky Nov. 5
The DLA Darfur Crisis Committee will present an updated version of its April 2005 Report on the humanitarian catastrophe in Darfur, Sudan on November 5,2005, at 4:30pm at 1 Rockefeller Center in Hanover. Dartmouth students, alumni, and friends are invited to attend. Admission is free.
The event is being co-sponsored with the Dartmouth Darfur Action Group. The Committee's Report, "Wind of Madness" described the humanitarian, political, and military situation in Darfur as of last spring. Two million African residents of the Darfur region of Sudan have been displaced by violent attacks by the Government of Sudan and Islamic militias known as the Janjaweed. A panel of 5 DLA members: Al Moncure '69, Lydia Lazar '81, Fred Cowan '67, Aaron Brooks '96, and John Mathias '69 will discuss recent developments on the ground in Darfur as well as pending legislation in Congress.
