DLA to Ski Heavenly 2/18-21/05

For its EIGHTEENTH consecutive MIDWINTER CLE AND SKI, the DARTMOUTH LAWYERS ASSOCIATION will convene at HEAVENLY MOUNTAIN RESORT, SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CALIFORNIA, where we will be headquartered at the FOREST SUITES INN. This resort is located on the shore of Lake Tahoe only steps away from the new Heavenly Village and Gondola, and a short footpath away from the exciting nightlife and gambling action of the Stateline casinos. You can walk to the Gondola to ski Heavenly or catch one of the many ski resort shuttles to Squaw Valley or one of the other premier ski areas closeby. Check out the Forest Suites website at www.forestsuites.com for more information. South Lake Tahoe is about 50 miles from the Reno, Nevada, whose international airport is served by daily direct flights from major cities.

This year, our CLE Program will be coordinated by Ben Riley '79. The program will be a wide ranging look at the issue of "LEGAL ETHICS" in all its various settings. As in the past, we expect that CLE credit of 5-6 hours will be awarded by most states with mandatory CLE. We can assist with the pre- or post-approval process. If you have an interest in participating in the program, please contact Ben directly at (415) 693-2092 or E-Mail at briley"at"cooley.com.

The dates for our meeting are February 18-21, 2005. We have a block of rooms at the Forest Suites Resort starting at $169 per night. THIS BLOCK WILL ONLY BE HELD UNTIL ON NOVEMBER 17, 2004, AT WHICH TIME THE ROOMS WILL BE RELEASED INTO THE GENERAL INVENTORY. You may elect to extend your stay by coming up to earlier and/or staying up later on a space available basis at the same or better rates. Since our chosen weekend falls on Presidents Day weekend and at the end of school vacation week for much of the country, we anticipate that there will be a strong demand for these rooms, and I encourage you to make your reservations NOW.

To book your reservations, please call the Forest Suites Reservations Office at (800) 822-5950. You can also get information on the Forest Suites Website noted above. Be sure to let the reservationist know that you are with the Dartmouth Lawyers Association. As in years past, there will be a registration fee to cover costs associated with the program and functions, including the final banquet. I anticipate this fee will be approximately $425 for Dartmouth Lawyers or other participants, with spouses/guests charged at cost for functions attended as appropriate. Note that this is somewhat higher than in years past, but that we are including in this a second full dinner on Saturday night. As a special incentive to younger members, we are offering a $100 discount for participants who are members of the Dartmouth Classes of 1995 and later.

More information is coming to DLA Members in the U.S. Mail.

DLA.org Usage Climbs Steadily

Usage of the DLA website continues to climb as we add features and news.

Recent visits to the site have exceeded 6000 in the month of September, as shown by the scale indicator to the right of the yellow visitor count in the upper right segment of this October 2004 snapshot graphic.

Compared to a maximum of 2500 visits during the best of twelve months ending in July of 2003 as shown by the scale indicator to the right of the yellow visitor count in the upper right segment of this July 2003 snapshot graphic.

Detail analysis of the data indicates that an important part of the increased usage comes from visits to the "Jobs, Speakers and Links" segment of the DLA Community Forum and to this Weblog.
