Message from DLA President

Dear Dartmouth Lawyer,

I write this email for three purposes: 1) to clarify some confusion caused by recent emails that many of you may have received supporting a specific candidate or candidates for Dartmouth College Trustee, 2) to remind all of you and encourage you to attend our upcoming Annual Meeting in Hanover on May 4-5, 2007, and 3) to encourage you to submit your membership renewal forms quickly, if you have not already done so, before our upcoming Directory is sent to the publisher.

First, the Dartmouth Lawyers Association (“DLA”) - your association - has not sent any emails or mailings encouraging a vote for any particular candidate. The DLA does not endorse specific candidates, even if individual members of the DLA, acting individually, do so. The DLA does support the general principle that all alumni should take an active interest in the College, inform themselves, and vote in the current elections.

Second, we want to remind all of you of our fast approaching Twenty-Third Annual Meeting and CLE program which will also include a Dartmouth Community Law Day. This should be the first Law Day officially celebrated at Dartmouth and significantly it is co-sponsored by the DLA, the Rockefeller Center and the Undergraduate Legal Studies Faculty. There will be a series of CLE programs on legal and career topics as well. Please do attend this event. We want a great turnout and early May is a great time to be in Hanover.

And last, but importantly, our goal is to submit the 2007-2008 Directory to our publisher within the next month. If you have not renewed your membership yet, please do so quickly so that your name will once again be included in the book. Otherwise, you will be missed.
