Remembering Jerry Palm '64

During his 60 years, Jerry Palm (above, in eye patch) enjoyed academic, professional and community success. He made the DLA's annual SKI/CLE weekend a special Father-Daughter event for himself and Kimberly (above, on left). His obituary from the August edition of Hearsay follows below. He will be greatly missed.
If you knew Jerry, please post a memorial comment in reply to this message. If you have additional photos of Jerry, please let me know so that we can make them available on this site.
Vox clams,
Doug Simpson '70, DLA "Webster" (more ...)
DLA member Gerald Albert Palm, '64 passed away from cancer at his home Sunday, June 22, 2003 at age 60. Jerry was born November 4, 1942 in Seattle, Washington. He is survived by his loving wife Nancy, son Jason, daughter Kimberly of Mercer Island, Washington and numerous sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Jerry graduated with highest honors from Ballard High School in 1960. In 1964, he earned an Economics degree from Dartmouth graduating Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He received his law degree in 1967 from Harvard Law School. Jerry specialized in litigation and in his 36 year career, tried over 130 cases. Jerry was a member of The King County and Washington State Bar Association, The Defense Research Institute, The Dartmouth Lawyers Association, The Washington Defense Trial Lawyers Association, The Federal Bar Association of Western Washington and The American Board of Trial Advocates.
He was very generous with his time and served as past presidents of numerous organizations: Mercer Island Kiwanis Club, The American Board of Trial Advocates, The Mercerwood Shore Club and The Mercer Island Country Club. He was a member of The Swedish American Chamber of Commerce and The Washington Athletic Club. He served as a Deacon of Youth for two terms at Mercer Island Covenant Church. Jerry took part in a Saturday morning Men’s Bible Study and a Thursday evening Couples Bible Study. He enjoyed tennis, water and snow skiing, jogging, basketball, scuba diving, boating in San Juan Island and vacationing on Maui.
A special Father/Daughter time with Kimberly was their annual snow skiing trip to the DLA Mid-Winter CLE and SKI Meeting. Father/Son time with Jason was their annual fishing trip to Alaska or British Columbia.
Jerry was an extrovert with a great sense of humor and it was said that he knew no strangers. He will be greatly missed by this family and many friends.
Remembrances can be made to: The American Cancer Society, 728-134th St., Suite 101, Everett. WA. 98204; Mercer Island Covenant Church Youth Ministries Fund, 3200-78th Ave. S.E., Mercer Island, WA. 98040; or Westminster Foundation, 13646 N.E. 24th St., Bellevue, WA. 98005.
Thanks for posting the note on Jerry, Doug.
Jerry is someone who I had the good fortune to know over the last 13 or so years through the midyear DLA CLE and Ski weekends throughout the West. We always counted on him to bring thoughtful professional perspectives from the northwest and his daughter Kim who we watched grow from a little girl into a young woman. Unfailingly pleasant, Jerry's face at rest seemed to always be smiling. That's the way I will always remember him. I hope Kim knows that she will always be welcome wherever we gather.
